Tottenham Transfer Window

Tottenham had a great December run ruined recently be a loss to Wolverhampton. Spurs are now in a critical part of the season, the January transfer window. In this month Spurs will be looking to hold onto their stars, whilst looking to improve in some areas.

Mauricio Pochettino earlier stated that he would not be bringing anyone in unless people left. He goes on to state that there is not enough room in his squad to bring in players. Mauricio has been renowned for not being too aggressive in the transfer window, making tactical moves. In the early days of the window, there have been a few rumors.

The first player which a lot of talks have been around being star midfielder, Christian Eriksen. The midfielder is a hot commodity, and many teams seem to think so. The lead team in pursuit of him seems to be the Spanish giants, Barcelona. Since Iniesta and Xavi departed they seem to have lacked creativity in the midfield, something Eriksen brings in abundance. Tottenham is in talks to sign him to a new contract, which would ease fans minds. Pochettino, however, has said that Eriksen can do what he wants to do, which surely has excited teams pursuing him.

The second player being linked on a move is Mousa Dembele, involving a possible move to China this January. Dembele is a strong and versatile midfielder, with specific defending tendencies. A strong asset for Spurs to have, but that seems so for the Chinese team Beijing Sinobo Guoan as well. The Chinese team is apparently offering a contract worth nine million euros a year, on a three-year deal. This is another key aspect of the Spurs midfield, aiding the back four tremendously.

The final major circulating rumor is that Spurs are interested in Hull winger, Jarrod Bowen. If Spurs lose one of the players above, this move could become a serious inquiry. Bowen has scored 11 goals in 26 appearances this season, and clearly caught the eye of the Spurs boss. He is a young talent, which Hull will not be letting go for cheap, rumors are that they would want between 15-20 million for him. This is a steep asking price for young talent, but it could dramatically pay off if it occurred.

Tottenham have yet to make any deals, but they will be hoping to hold on to their world-class talent. Having Eriksen and Dembele in the midfield dramatically helps Tottenham’s chances, and makes them a more complete team. It is still early January so there could be much more drama to come.
