Eden Hazard is happy to see out his playing career at Chelsea if a move to Real Madrid fails to materialize.
The Belgian has been linked to a move to the Bernabeu for the last 12 months. Even more so with the sale of Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus earlier in this summer’s transfer window.
Speculation has intensified surrounding a possible Real Madrid bid for Hazard, and the player himself has admitted that he might be interested in such a move.
It is no surprise that Hazard wants to play for Real Madrid, saying that it has been his dream club since childhood. However, he has also insisted that he would “never go into a conflict” with Chelsea if the transfer does not happen.
Having made a superb start to the season under new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, Hazard told that he could remain with the Blues until he retires.
“I can finish with Chelsea,” he told Renault Match Zone.
“No problem at all. I am very happy with this club, with the team, my family is happy here.
“So, if I don’t go to Spain, it is not a problem. I love the fans – I think the fans love me! What happens in the future, I will be happy, so that’s it.”
The 27-year-old has been at Chelsea since 2012 and has made a huge impact at Stamford Bridge, helping the club to several trophies.
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck indicated earlier this week that the club “will do what it has to” in order to persuade the winger to remain with the Blues.
“Let’s see how it goes between now and the end of the season,” he said when asked about the prospect of the attacker penning a long-term deal.
Hazard has spent six years at Chelsea, having arrived from Lille for a fee of £31.5 million. He has played 310 times for the club, netting 97 goals in the process, while winning two Premier League titles and an FA Cup.
